I am extremely excited to begin working with OU Cousins this semester; I feel that it will be a great experience and opportunity to learn about another culture and potentially form a new friendship to last a lifetime. I would like to learn to see the world from a different perspective, and I feel that this program will definitely facilitate that. I also hope to join ENACTUS this semester because I would really like to continue learning about how to interact with business professionals. The main reason for my interest in ENACTUS, however, is because I am passionate about Human Trafficking Prevention and Anti-Slavery campaigns. I am ecstatic to being working with No Boundaries International through ENACTUS to help put an end to modern forms of slavery on the local, national, and global levels.
Coming to OU, I was worried that there wouldn’t be any opportunities for me to become actively involved in ending human trafficking and modern day slavery, but I have been pleasantly surprised. I have met a number of people at OU who share my same interest and have been contacted by four different clubs that specialize in Human Trafficking Prevention. I am so excited to begin working with these clubs and to join the fight against slavery. During my first week at OU I reached out to Kevin Bales an OU graduate who has since become somewhat of an expert in the field of modern day slavery, and he put me in Contact with a senior on campus who has invited me to be a part of planning and executing an Anti-Slavery Symposium in the spring. It is great to see that there are so many people at OU that are passionate about serving others and preventing crimes such as Human Trafficking – I cannot wait to join them in their fight.
